Guide

How FamSynch works

Everything you need to get set up and get the most out of it, in plain English.

1

Get set up in minutes

Creating your family takes a couple of minutes. Here's the order.

1

Use your email, or sign in with Google or Apple. Whatever's easiest.

2

Create your family

Set your home location. It tailors your calendar times and makes reminders like leave-by accurate.

3

Add members

Add each person with a name and role (parent, child). Add their school or workplace so reminders get smarter.

4

Invite people

Share an invite code or link so the rest of the family can join on their own devices.

Your first week

A few small habits and FamSynch starts doing the remembering for you.

1

Drop a screenshot

Screenshot a school newsletter, roster or booking and drop it in. FamSynch reads it and turns it into an event on the right person's calendar.

2

Check your home dashboard

Open the app to see Right now (who's where), Today (everyone's events), and Needs attention (anything to sort).

3

Add an event yourself

Tap the + to add anything by hand, and set who it's for and who can see it.

Never get caught out

FamSynch watches the week so you don't have to hold it all in your head.

1

See clashes early

When two events overlap, leave no time to travel between them, or land too close to an exam, they show up under Needs attention. Free for everyone.

2

Resolve in a tap

Open a clash and move, shorten, or reassign an event to clear it, days ahead, not in the car park.

3

Smart reminders

Get a leave-by time based on the trip, plus a weather nudge: an umbrella for the school run, a jacket for the evening party. Premium

4

The daily briefing

A short morning summary of the day ahead and the week to come. Premium

Coordinate with circles

A circle is simply a group you coordinate with, beyond your family.

1

Create a circle

Make one for the soccer parents, close friends, or the grandparents. Any group you plan with.

2

Invite people

Share a link. They land straight in the circle when they join.

3

Share the calendar & post announcements

Everyone sees the same events. Post an announcement (a quick update everyone in the circle sees) like “Game moved to 5pm”.

4

Find a time

Use find-a-time and FamSynch suggests a slot that works for everyone.

5

Propose & RSVP

Propose a plan and members reply: in, out, or suggest another time.

6

Cross-circle busy

Across circles you share, you see when people are free, never their private details.

Ask FamSynch

Prefer to just say it? Ask FamSynch in plain English.

1

Open the chat

Tap Ask on your home screen.

2

Say what you want

“Add Emma's dentist Tuesday at 3pm”, “Move soccer to Saturday 10am”, “Delete Friday's meeting”, or “Tell the soccer parents training's cancelled”.

3

You approve first

FamSynch shows what it'll do. Nothing is created, changed, or announced until you confirm.

Connect Google Calendar Premium

Already living in Google Calendar? Bring it in. It's optional, and per person.

1

Connect your own

Each person connects their own account. Nobody can connect it for you.

2

Choose which calendars

Pick exactly which of your Google calendars to include, and leave the rest out.

3

Set what others see

Synced events use the same Private / Busy / Shared choice as everything else.

4

Read-only, always

FamSynch only reads your calendar. It never creates, edits, or deletes anything in Google.

5

Disconnect anytime

One tap, from the app or your Google Account.

7

Your profile & privacy

A few settings make FamSynch smarter, and your data always stays yours.

1

Set school year & work

Add a child's school year or a parent's workplace so reminders and leave-by times get sharper.

2

Choose event visibility

Every event is Private (only you see it), Busy (others see you're busy, not what), or Shared (full details for the group).

3

Export or delete anytime

Download or permanently delete all of your data from inside the app, whenever you like.
